Tickets for the Pastor Awards Dinner on Feb. 4^th are on sale today after all the Masses. They are $35 each or $70 for a couple. We have lovely posters in our entrances so you can see who the awardees are. Hurry and get your ticket today, they are selling like hot potato!

Please see the bulletin for "An Evening for New Orleans Lovers!" on Saturday Februarty 11th, 2012 at the Parish Hall. At 6pm we will have Louisiana Comfort Food on sale and at 7pm the Showing of the Documentary "The Big Uneasy." We are asking for a $1 donation for the entrance and to call the parish office to reserve your spot.

The Christian Financial Classes based on Dave Ramsey will start on Monday January 23 at the Guadalupe Room. Please see our bulletin for more information.

LOVE TACOS? Well then come get your fill from 8am to 2pm at the Parish Hall. And as you get your fill of the variety of the delicious tacos, you will also be supporting our catechists in raising funds to attend the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim this March. You will be full and happy.

Sister Karen would like to thank everyone for your prayers. Her recovery is going great, and might be able to make it to our Pastor's Awards Dinner. Thank you.

DEC. 10TH – 11TH

1. We have a second collection today for the Retirement Fund for Religious Men and Women throughout the United States. As you know the money from the collection goes to a general fund in D.C. and is then distributed to Religious Congregations according to their need. Most Religious Congregations have many elderly priests, sisters and brothers and do not have the funds needed to take care of them. What you give helps to give these religious a decent life until the Lord calls them. Thank you for whatever you can give.

2. Today in the parking lot visit the S.H.A.R.E. sale of Christmas Ornaments and gift bags. Personalized ornaments that can be placed on the Christmas Memorial Tree in honor/ memory of a love one are available for $2.00 per ornament

Sign up sheets are at the S.H.A.R.E. Table today. Please stop by to see where you can volunteer. Those who signed up to volunteer on Christmas Day please go to the table as your sign up is not complete.

The Christmas Day Dinner needs list are available if you need one. Please check this list to see what is needed. Toiletries, caps, gloves, socks and new blankets, now that it is cold, are a big need for our men, women and children guests.

Please bring the used items you have been saving for the Christmas Day Dinner on Sunday DEC 18, 8-5p- during the week Monday -Thursday 10-4pm. We can only accept donations at this time in the hall. Please do not leave in any other area.

3. Joe will be decorating for Christmas on Dec. 22^nd. If you can help please come to the Church by 9am. If you would like to help with decorations, we could use red poinsettia plants and strings of small white lights. You can bring these next week to church.

4. Our Pastor's Awards ceremony will be on Sunday evening, Feb. 5^th after the 5:30pm Mass in the Hall. More information will be coming next week.

5. There are still families for adoption for Christmas as well as Angels for gifts. Please see Gloria after Mass.

6. Our Advent Penance Service is on Monday evening, Dec. 19^th at 7pm in the Church.

1. One of our parishioners attends Santa Monica College and is in charge of the American Sign Language Club. They are hosting a Bingo Night and Silent Auction to help raise funds for their club on Sunday, Nov. 13^th at 5pm in the Parish Hall. If you can support them by attending, that would be great.

2. Thank you for supporting and making Cupcake Sunday such a success.

The Scratch Home Made Cupcake Competition was won by Brenda Donado. Her theme was, "Brenda's Pumpkin Patch" Congratulation Brenda. Thank you to all the other contestants.

Did you enjoy those Free Hugs? Continue to pass them out today.

We will probably not be receiving the donations of purses and cosmetics like we had in the past 6 yrs. Next Sunday we will have collection Sunday for new unopened cosmetics, new unopened perfume and footie's/socks for women and teens.

Please stop by the S.H.A.R.E table to see how you can participate with us in this season of passing on and giving back blessings.

3. Alex Chavez, one of our Parishioners who is a regular at the 10am Mass, is being honored as one of the recipients of the Cardinal's Award this year. The ceremony will be on Feb. 4^th in Hollywood. If anyone is interested in attending, please call the office during the week for details.

OCT. 1ST – 2ND

We had a great meeting last Monday evening and now we are asking for help from the parishioners'. In the Placita today we have coffee and donuts and a board with sign up sheets. Please stop by and read over them while you are enjoying a cup of coffee. A couple of them need explanation:

1. We are starting Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of each month. In order to have this we need to have people in the church at all times. If you can come and be present, please sign up on the sheet.

2. We would like to start a pre-school during the 10:00am Mass where we can teach younger children their prayers and about Jesus. This would be for children younger than First Grade. If you would like to help with this, please sign up.

3. We need help with our Children's Liturgy of the Word. If you can help, please sign up.

I think all the others are pretty clear. Thank you again to all who attended and we hope this will be a good start to a wonderful year.

Are you interested in becoming a Catholic? You may have a friend, neighbor or co-worker wondering how God fits into their life. You may have even been baptized a Catholic but never completed your initiation (Confirmation and/or Eucharist). Adults become Catholic through a gradual process of prayer, reflection and study called RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). At St. Agatha's the RCIA Team meets in the Pastoral Center on Sunday mornings, from 8:30 to 9:45, and then attends Mass at 10:00 am together. We invite you to "Come and see". . . drop in, no obligation, no commitment, no pressure – sessions starting on Oct. 9.

Mass this coming Monday will be at 8am as Fr. Bill has an assembly with all the Priests of the Archdiocese.

Please join us for the final Family Forum on Monday, Sept. 26^th. This will be an exciting meeting where we can see all our plans come to fruition. It will starts at 7pm, so we will see you there in the Herbert Johnson Hall.

Tutoring has started up again on Thursdays and Saturdays, so if your child needs that little extra help, this is an excellent way for them to get it and for free.

Our Parish Retreat will be on Saturday, Oct. 29^th from 9am till 3pm. The theme will be "Mary as a bridge between cultures". We will start taking sign ups next week-end. More information is in the bulletin.

There are three tickets let for the Dave Ramsey talk next week-end. Please go to the Parish Annex Office by the Placita.

Applications and Guides for the Scratch Homemade Cupcake Competition can be found in the racks at the Adams entrance to the church.

Please bring your donations of new items for the Holiday Boutique Chinese Auction to the PC marked with S.H.A.R.E. on the outside. Items are to please be new and can be dropped off anytime during the PC open hours.

1. The Family Forum will be on Monday, Sept. 26^th and not on the 19^th. We wanted to have time to announce it and hopefully more people will attend. We will be looking at the "To Do" lists and trying to put some plans together so we can start working on them. It will run from 7pm-9pm. Please plan on attending.

2. We have a few tickets left for the Dave Ramsey talk and you can also go on line and order them with the code for the same price. Call the office if you would like the information. The talk is on Saturday, Sept. 24^th starting at 12 noon at the Long Beach Arena.

3. Metro Discount vouchers for Regular and Student Riders are no longer available for 2011 from the PC Office. We will announce when they will available again.

4. Guidelines and Applications for the Scratch Cupcake Competition on Sunday October 30 and Vendor Guidelines and Applications for the Holiday Boutique on Sunday November 20 are now available. Please call the PC Office for information.

5. If you know of a company, market, store or business who may consider donating to the Christmas Day Dinner please submit the contact information in writing to the PC Office by September 20 attention S,H,A,R,E, Ministry.

6. CCD is offering FREE Bible classes for all children who have done their First Communion; the classes will be in English and will be given on Tuesday evenings, for more information please call the CCD office.

Happy Labor Day week-end! It is good to be back and at work. We had a wonderful time at World Youth Day and I hope the kids will take the time to share with you their pictures and stories.

Mass tomorrow, Monday will be at 8:00am and the office will be closed.

Please take a copy of the bulletin as the September calendar is inside and there are lots of exciting things going on: casino runs, Fr. Bills talk at Mary & Joseph Retreat Center, a follow up meeting for the Family Forum on the 19^th and probably lots of stuff I don't know about!!

There is a wonderful talk being given by Dave Ramsey that I know Ann Ford has been announcing in my absence. I went to a preview of his message and feel it is something that many of us can learn from and help us get a handle on our finances, whether you are in trouble or not. The talk on the 24^th is just the beginning. If we get enough people interested we can put on the workshops here for 13 weeks to help teach people how to manage money using lessons taken from scripture. Talk to either Ann or myself if you have any questions. We do have tickets available for $25 at the office in the annex by the Placita.

I would like to collect pictures of the Diamonds of the church, seniors over 75 and display them on the bulletin board on Grandparents Day. We would like to know your age, how long have you been members of St. Agatha and what ministries have you served. Please bring your pictures no later than Saturday, September 10, 2011.

1. LA Voice PICO at St Agatha invites everyone to sign letters to Senator Kevin De Leon and Governor Brown in support of AB1389 and AB 353. These two bills would be very beneficial for the immigrant community by allowing sober unlicensed drivers all over the state the opportunity to call someone with a license to pick up their car within the remainder of the checkpoint. When the cars of unlicensed drivers are towed they would go to the impound for 1 day instead of 30. We believe that these bills are helpful for families and create a more just towing policy across the state.

2. Today is the last day to register for CCD classes from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

3. Religious Education is offering children's Bible classes who have received First Communion. Classes will be given on Tuesdays. If you would like more information please contact the Faith Formation Office.

4. There will be a job fair at Crenshaw Christian Center, on Wednesday August 31, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., more information at the entrance of the church.

1. Today we are having a second collection. Given the critical situation in Somalia and east Africa, the Church in the United States is asking Catholics to consider giving generously to Catholic Relief Services.

3. Thank you for your support of S.H.A.R.E. by donating to Macy's Shop For A Cause Project. 2. S.H.A.R.E. Ministry has been selected to be a part of Macy's Shop For A Cause Day on Saturday August 27. For a donation of $5.00 you will receive a pass for 25% off purchases made this day at any Macy's, a chance to win a $500 Macy's Gift Card and be entertained by various community groups. Passes are available today in the school yard for a donation of $5.00, from the PC Office or from any S.H.A.R.E. Ministry Leader. The proceeds from this donation will go directly to the S.H.A.R.E. 1. We have a second collection today for the National Needs. Envelopes are in the pews for your use or just give what you can into the basket. Thank you.

Next Sunday the barrels will be out for the monthly food collection.

3. Graduates, if you have not handed in your pictures and a short bio telling us where you are going or what you are doing after graduation, please turn them in by Aug. 7^th.

5. There is a delicious breakfast in the Hall today being prepared by The Morales brothers. You can tell them how you like your omelet and what you would like in it. 1. AACCFE ANNUAL TOWN HALL MEETING

The African American Catholic Center for Evangelization (AACCFE) will host its 7th Annual Town Hall Meeting August 6, 2011 8am – 3pm in St Eugene's Parish Hall 96th Street & Van Ness Avenue.

Archbishop Jose H. Gomez will be our Keynote Speaker and will address Evangelization in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

We invite all to come and share their thoughts and ideas regarding what can be done to evangelize and bring about a renewal in the Los Angeles Black Catholic Community. For additional information, please contact the AACCFE at 323-777-2106 or visit our website www.aaccfe.com.

2. Free Metro Discount Bus Vouchers will be distributed today in the parking lot from 8-2pm.

4. There will be a follow up meeting next Sunday, July 31^st at 1:30pm in the Hall for all parents who have children attending our local grammar and High Schools. We would like to get your input on how the schools are doing for your children and strategize on next steps that we might take as parents and concerned citizens. Please spread the word to your neighbors as this is not only for St. Agatha members.

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make the International Festival the success it was. We will have definite numbers for you next week. Thank you especially to the committee, to the candidates who worked so hard selling tickets, to the staff especially our janitorial staff, and to all who gave so generously of their time and talents.

Please take a moment and walk by the Placita to see how it is coming along. It will probably be finished in a couple of weeks and we will have a celebration after the Masses. We still have 28 bricks that can be ordered. Order slips are at the table at the back of the Church if you are interested. They cost $30.

Our next Blood Drive will be on July 10th and we will be taking signups starting next week. We will be calling you if you have been a giver in the past to save you the time of coming in to sign up. You can also go on line and sign up. Look to the web page for information on how to do this.

We will be hosting a workshop today in English and Spanish for adults on the issue of our gay and lesbian youth and how we can reach out and help. It begins at 1:30pm in the Hall.

I hope to see many of you next Sunday at our Family Forum in the Hall at 1:30pm. Come share your insights and visions for St. Agatha Parish.

Fr. Bill's Bible study classes are now on hiatus until further notice.

Please join us Monday night at 7pm in the Hall for the Labyrinth Walk. We will also have a silent mediation walk of some art pieces of one of our parishioner's, Sophia Berkley. There is no soup supper this evening, come and be fed spiritually.

Tickets are on sale today after all the Masses for the Zydeco Dance on March 26^th. Hope you can join us for a fun night, even if you don't dance, the music is great.

Please check the bulletin for times for Ash Wednesday masses and services. Also, please check the soup supper schedule and Stations of the Cross each Friday evening. I pray that each of you will have an opportunity this Lent to find something that will help you go deeper into the desert with Christ.

We also have Crystal, our International Festival Queen, who would like to invite you to be a candidate for our next St Agatha's queen.

Fr. Bill will be away this week therefore there will be Communion Services on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Fr. Frank will say mass on Wed. morning at the regular time.

We have the Clippers tickets for the game on March 30^th available today after all Masses. If you reserved some, please pick them up.

Sign ups for our Blood Drive on March 13^th are going on after all Masses today. Please give the gift of life.

It looks like the Bathrooms will be finished by next week and we will be able to use them. Thanks again for your patience.

We are taking one more set of orders for bricks for the Patio. We have overcome the hurdles that were holding us back and work will begin in earnest very soon. We will be able to bless the New Placita at Easter. If you would like to order a brick, please take a form today and return it by next Sunday.

We have two events coming up that we would like you to remind you to save the dates: Our Zidago dance on March 26^th and the Parish Picnic at Veterans Park in Culver City on July 10^th. More details will be in the upcoming bulletins.

Come and join us to celebrate Black History Month at the Cathedral on Sat. Feb. 19^th at 5pm for the annual Mass. Eddie will be leading the choir.

Our Electrical Re-cycling event will also take place on Sat. Feb. 19^th from 9-3pm in the parking lot. Please help us by spreading the word among your friends and neighbors.'

Baldwin Hills Plaza has some new stores. There will be a Staples moving in soon as well as Buffalo Wild Wings. There will be a grand opening on Feb. 17^th for Buffalo Wings hosted by Trevor Ariza. It will start at 3:30pm and there will be lots of entertainment and fun.

St. Agatha's is joining "Get On The Bus" organization for Father's Day by sponsoring some of the guests on a bus. We need lots of volunteers to help us get this going. We need volunteers to help with talking to families, organizing and getting supplies for the goody bags and being chaperones on the trip. We will go to Folsom Prison on June 11^th. If you are interested, please give your name and phone number to the people at the table at the rear of the Church. We will be having a planning meeting real soon. Thank you for volunteering to do this as you will be bringing children and their father's together for a wonderful visit .

FEB. 5TH-6TH

Father Bill will be in Baltimore this week, for the regular monthly duties he has as a member of his Provincial Council. Therefore, we will have Services of Holy Communion all week, except for Wednesday morning, when Fr. Frank will take his place and celebrate the Eucharist with us. This ALSO means that there will be no Bible Study on Monday night in Spanish, on Wednesday night in English, and no study of the Lost Gospels/Lost Christianities in English on Friday morning. Those classes will start up when he returns by the weekend.

Our next Blood drive will be held on March 13^th. You can sign up now on the internet by going to Red Cross Blood Drive and put in St. Agatha's. Sign ups will begin on Feb. 20^th outside of Church

Our Valentine Dance will be held next Friday evening. Tickets are on sale today after all the Masses, only $10.

We have a very few tickets left for the Pastor's Awards Dinner if you would still like to join us in celebrating four of our parishioners. You can purchase them outside of Church today at the table.

Fr. Bill's Bible classes will resume this week on Wed. at 7pm and on Friday mornings.

I hope you have had time to clean out your garage and put aside all those electronic goodies to bring to the recycling event on Sat. Feb. 12^th from 9am till 4pm. You can also bring them with you on Sunday, Feb. 6^th and we will have bins to collect them.

Those long awaited calendars are here!!! Now I hope there are enough for you to be able to take at least one. Please do not take more than one per household. Thank you.

Don't forget the Valentine Dance on Friday, Feb. 11. Proceeds go to our Religious Education.

The Feast of the Presentation or Candelmas day is this Wed. If you would like to bring candles to have blessed to take home on that day, please do so at the 8am Mass. St. Blaise is celebrated on Thursday, so we will have the blessing of throats on Thursday evening.

Next Sunday also please bring the pennies that you have been saving for our penny jar. Our pennies when we put them together will help our Ministry buy the supplies for the meal for our Saturday guests.

This fund has been taken for the past 11 years to help the orders who have many elderly members and not many young members to earn salaries. As you know, the S.H.A.R.E. ministry is having their Holiday Boutique on Nov. 21^st. They are in the hall today after the morning Masses and invite you to share your blessings by placing them in writing and hanging them on the board in the Hall. In July, 1990, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus established November as Black Catholic History Month. Join us on Nov. 7^th at the 10am Mass in celebration of our history as Black Catholics.

On Monday evening Nov. 8 and 15^th at 7pm in the hall, there will be talks and question and answer periods on the contributions that have been made to the Catholic Religion by Africans and people of African descent. I hope many of you will join us on these evenings.

October is the month of the Rosary. There will be a rally on Oct. 16th at 12noon at St. Bernadette Church to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of Our Lady's apparition at Fatima. There will be more than 5000 rally's going on this month across the nation to unite the faithful in praying the rosary. If you can not attend this rally, perhaps your family could come together one night and pray the rosary together for peace or whatever intention you have.

Fr. Bill will be out of town from Monday till Thursday. We will have communion services except for Wed. morning when Fr. Frank will say the morning Mass at 8am.

As you can see from the construction, the Placita is underway. We need to get the bricks to the company so we can get them back in time for placement in the floor of the Placita. Therefore, we need all orders for bricks by this coming Friday, Oct. 8^th. You can turn them into the Office during the week.

We are cancelling the dance on Oct. 16^th since we have been asking so much of the parishioner's with the Placita and Car raffle. I would like to explain why we are having the Car Raffle now. Since we do not have a Fall Festival, the Car Raffle is our fundraiser for this season. You have two months to sell the tickets as the raffle is not until Nov. 28^th. We need to sell the books in order to make the money for the car or prize. If each family took one book of tickets and tried to sell it, we would reach our goal. I was approached by representatives from the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative group who has undertaken to beautify the corner of La Brea and Mansfield, in front of the Mortuary. They are looking for two representatives from St. Agatha's to be on the Steering committee so that we will have a voice in what happens. I would say the commitment would be for no longer than 6 months. Please talk to Sr. Karen if you are interested.

Our weight loss program is ready to begin. If you signed up and received a call, please talk to Marcia Lewis or Sr. Karen about details of the program. We will start new groups every 3 months so if you do not get into the beginning group, you can participate at a later date.

Tutoring Ministry at St Agatha resumes September 16, bring your children on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm, and Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm in Room 4. We are glad to say that we have new tutors and we welcome anyone who needs volunteer hours for high school or college to come and give us a hand!

Bishop Edward Clarke was in a car accident a month ago and thought everything was fine. Unfortunately he wasn't fine and had to undergo surgery. He is well now, but please keep him in your prayers over the next three months as he recuperates.

We have an option with the Bricks that some families might like to take advantage of. It is called an Array, where four bricks are put together with whatever you would like to write on them and or a symbol. You can stop by the table after Mass and look over your choices.

We will be handing out raffle tickets for our Car Raffle next week. Here is you chance to win a new 2011 Toyota Yaris. Tickets are $5 each or a book of 5 tickets for $20. I hope every family can sell at least one book to help us out for this year.

There will be a celebration at the Cathedral on Sept. 19^th for the 10^th anniversary of the canonization of St. Katharine Drexel with a reception here at St. Agatha's at 3pm in the Hall. Hope some of you can attend and represent St. Agatha's family.

Our "Buy-A-Brick" Fundraiser is coming to an end, if you haven't purchase your brick to commemorate your family and a loved one, please support our Placita renovation today. Bricks are only $30 and the forms are available at the church entrance and at our website. We started submitting our brick orders, and I have to admit, they are wonderful messages, our Placita will be beautiful with our thoughts and wishes.

Check the bulletin for more information on the meeting for Eucharistic Ministers, our CLOW program, our Casino trip, and about the beginning filmmaking class that Fr. Dominic is teaching at Homeboy Industries this fall.

The Director of Faith Formation made a mistake when she made the announcement in the bulletin. The bulletin shows that CCD classes start on September 12, and it should be September 11. Please make sure to make the correction in your calendar.

We started a new altar server class a few months ago and have not completed it. Muriel Badon's Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 22^nd at 11:30am at Holy Cross Cemetery. There will be a repass at St. Agatha's following the funeral.

We still have some Dodger ticket's left if you have not purchased yours yet. Adults are $20 and children 15 and under are $15. They are available after the Masses today. We only have a couple of weeks left before the game.

I asked last week for those who had not pledged for Together in Mission to please do so to help us cover our shortfall of $11,000. We will have the National Needs collection next week-end.

The dates, times and places for the Welcome Mass for Archbishop Gomez for our Region are in the bulletin. The only one in English will be at St. Jerome Church on July 18^th at 11am. There will be one in Spanish and two Bi-lingual. You are invited to attend whichever one you would like. I hear that he is very friendly and wants to meet the people personally. I hope some of you will avail of this opportunity.

Our Parish Picnic will be on Aug. 1^st starting at 11am. It will be held here at the Church. If you would like to sign up to bring something for the community table, please stop at the table at the back of the Church.

There will be a meeting on July 25^th, Sunday, at 1:30pm in the Guadalupe room for those who have signed up for the Holy Land Trip and for those who might be interested in coming with us. Please pass the word around to those you know who might be interested.

I would like to thank all of you who pledged for Together In Mission. Unfortunately, we are $11,000 short on our pledge. That means that even if everyone who pledged paid, we would still not reach our goal. This means that this money would need to come out of our operating expenses. On Wednesday July 21 at 6:30pm our Gospel choir will be conducting its annual "Concert Under the Stars" as a fund-raiser for Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino. If you are able to attend, please do; this is a delightful evening, and one that benefits the retreat center that is so generous to our parish in giving us unbelievable discounts.

Registration for Religious Education will not take place this week-end, but will resume next week-end.

We have the tickets to the Dodgers game on Aug. 6^th available after Masses today. Cost is $20 per-ticket. We would like to set up car pooling, so please stop at the table and we will see what can be arranged.

Next Saturday and Sunday June 19 and July 20 the METRO Discount Bus ticket vouchers will be available before and after all the masses. The book of monthly discount vouchers will be for June - Dec 2010. Please bring the school ID's for students. New forms need to be filled out for July 2010-June 30, 2011 so please plan to spend sometime to complete this form.

We will be starting up a new Lector training class on Saturday's beginning June 26 from 10am till 1pm. It will run for 5 Saturday's. If anyone is interested in joining this Ministry, please sign up at the table behind the Church.

There will be a workshop offered by the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America here in the hall on Saturday, June 26th for those who have questions about saving homes from foreclosure and other problems. The workshop in English will be from 10am till 12pm and there will be one in Spanish from 1pm till 3pm. Please sign up at the table at the back of Church today as the workshop will be opened to the Public on Monday. We want to make sure our parishioners get first choice at this.

It looks like we netted around $21,000 from the Festival. Again thank you for all the hard work you put into the Festival this year. Don't forget to come to the thank you dinner on Sunday directly after the 5:30pm Mass.

Father's Day cards are at the doors of the Church, don't forget to have your Dad remembered in our Novena of Masses starting next Sunday.

We would like to welcome Fr. Clement from Chicago and his sharing with us. The ushers will now take up a second collection which will go to Fathers' home place in Nigeria. Thank you for your generosity.

We have been trying to figure out what to do with our Parish Picnic. The Park in Culver City is not available for any week-end in July. If there are people who would like to get together and come up with a plan, please call me or talk to me after Mass. We have a beautiful green lawn that could be used, just one suggestion.

The thank you dinner for all volunteers at the Festival is next Sunday, the 13^th after the 5:30pm Mass. Please plan on attending so we can thank you.

The Festival Committee is meeting on Monday, June 7^th at 7pm in the Pastoral Office. Please make it a priority to be there.

Don't forget to come to the meeting on Wed. June 2^nd to hear and give your input to the builders of the new Baldwin Hills Mall. They are coming to us specifically to get input from the community. I hope you can attend.

Reserve your seat for the Immigration reform meeting on June 6^th at 3pm at Westside Jewish Community Center. I have told them we will be brining 10 people. Please see Sr. Karen after Mass to hold your place.

I know this is the last announcement, and lots of people have already tuned out, BUT this is important. We need to fill our bus on June 5 to go to Harrah's in San Diego. We need at least 30 more for the one bus and would love to fill the other one also. Come have fun on the way there, at the Casino, and on the way back. We have one last fundraiser for this year – our Casino run on June 5^th to Harrah's casino in San Diego. Tickets are available in the Raffle booth at the back of the Church. It will be a great evening, and I hope many of you can join us for the fun.

Thank you for participating in the Parish Census. We will be calling those who did not fill out a paper or update their information. If you can help with the phone calling, please look at the sign up sheet in the Raffle booth. We hope that this will help us become aware of the needs of more of our parishioner.

We will have representatives from the new Baldwin Hills Mall project visiting us on June 2^nd at 7pm in the Hall Please come and give your input on what you would like to see at the Mall. They are very interested in hearing from the community.

On Sunday, June 6, at 3pm, we will join other LA Voice churches and synagogues in voicing a moral vision for comprehensive immigration reform and the urgency of action by our federal officials and our two Senators to be bold in leading for reform. We have a second collection today for the Retirement fund for the priests in our Archdiocese. Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated.

Many people think we have all this information, but we do not. We need to know how we can best serve you, and this will help us to do that. Thank you for taking the time.

It is that time of year again, when we see our young people graduating from school. We would like to recognize our seniors from High School in a special way. Please stop by the Festival table and give us the names of those you know who will be graduating this year. Thank you.

ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT BEFORE THE FESTIVAL!!!!! Please stop at the table as we still need volunteers for security and to work the ticket booth. You can drop off your donated items today also or during the week. Pre-ride tickets are on sale and will be on sale until the Thursday before the Festival. This is a great way to save money on the rides.

Our Youth Ministry is hosting a dance on Friday night, so let your friends know about it.

We have a flyer on the Pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2011. They will be at the Festival table. Please pick one up if you are interested and return it to Sr. Karen or the front office.

The ushers will now hand out a book of raffle tickets to each person or family. If you each sold one book, we would make our needed goal.

The St. Vincent de Paul truck is in the parking lot, on the field to gather your donations. If you forgot, you can always go home and return with them. Thank you.

Fr. Dominic's concert returns to St. Agathas. He and his Dominican classmate Fr. John Paul, who grew up in our parish, will sing their unique a capella program, The Black & White Concert: a friendship in song, on Friday, May 14^th at 8pm in the church. Beginning with black and white spirituals, Dominic and John Paul share the music that brought them together and that has brought other black and white American together through the centuries. A free will offering will be taken, and CDs and DVDs will be available.

We are also taking sign ups for volunteers to help with the Parish Census on the first two week-ends of May. If you can give us 10-15 minutes after a Mass, please consider helping out.

Maggie has some Sees Easter candy for sale, gift certificates and candy. Please stop by the Youth table and see what she has left. The kids also have their fundraising cards for sale for $20.

On April 17^th and 18^th, the St Vincent De Paul society will bring a truck to St. Agatha's parking lot to collect donations for their Thrift Store. They will be collecting a variety of items. If you have a storage unit and are tired of paying for it, empty it and give the items to St. Vincent de Paul. Gloria will need volunteers to help load the truck. If you can help, please give her a call. Her number is in the bulletin.

We are participating in a shoe collection for Haiti and Chili. The box is outside between the bathrooms. Please bring any shoes you would like to donate and place them in the box. Thank you for whatever you can do.

Our Fiesta is fast approaching. Next week we will have the raffle tickets and pre-ride tickets. Today, we have sign ups for booth sponsors and volunteers and donations. Please stop by the table behind the Church.

Next week we will have priest from Food for the Poor at all our Masses to share with us what they do in South America and the Caribbean.

Our Youth Ministry will be selling fundraising cards which are good for discounts at over 20 retailers in our area. Please stop and talk to one of the youth and see if this is something you could use and help them raise money for WYD.

There is a prayer at the back of the bulletin that I would invite you to say as we await the selection of our new Archbishop. Whoever is selected will officiate with our present Cardinal for a year before Cardinal Mahoney retires in 2011. Please keep this in your prayers this year.

Our collection on Holy Thursday will go to the office of Restorative Justice. They give aid to those in jails and to families who have a family member in jail.

Our Good Friday collection will go to the upkeep of the shrines in the Holy Land.

We conclude our series of Monday night soup suppers this evening with presenters Deacon Ricardo Recinos and Musical Director Eddie Hilley. It is befitting that we have these two gentle-men combining to bring us into a deeper reflective experience of our Lenten preparation. There will be a farewell for Beverly Donatto next Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass in the Hall. Please come by to join us in saying farewell to Beverly.

There will also be a Candle Party in the Hall beginning at 12noon to help raise funds for our youth attending WYD 2011. These candles and many other items are very attractive and affordable. Just come by and see what they have to offer. There will be refreshments etc. also.

There will no Religious Education classes next Saturday because of Congress, please check your schedule for the following dates.

The SHARE ministry invites you to stop by the Bake Sale in the Placita. Come purchase a homemade baked goodie, get a cup of coffee and sit down and enjoy the company of your church family. This is a perfect opportunity during Lent to reach out and invite someone new to join your circle of church family at your table.

The Rome Pilgrims will be in the Placita as well to share their pictures and stories about the trip. There will be an information flyer on our next trip in Nov. of 2011.

In case you did not have a chance last week to give for Haiti, we will take up a second collection now. This will go through Catholic Relief Services, who have been asked by our Church to handle much of the distribution of goods.

I would like to give a personal thank you to everyone for supporting our car raffle, in whatever way you were able. I know that money is scarce for lots of you, but people have been very creative and resourceful. I don't know the final numbers on the raffle but will have them for you next week.

Congratulations to our Awardees of the Pastor's Awards. We will present these next Saturday evening, Jan. 30^th at our dinner at the De Lancy Center.

The Hispanic Apostolate is putting on a Valentine dance on Feb. 12^th Tickets are available after Masses this week-end.

We have post cards that we will mail to our US Senator's and Representatives about Immigration reform. I would ask that the ushers hand these out to the congregation at this time. I know that you may not be prepared to give, but we would like to take up a second collection today for the relief fund for Haiti. If you can not give today, you can always send it to the Church and we will write up one check and send it to Catholic Relief Services. We are also taking up a collection with the children in Religious Education to send through Fr. Ken and the Holy Childhood that will go directly to the Diocese in Port a Prince. Let us keep all of the Haitian people in our prayers.

If you would like to attend the Pastor's Awards dinner, you need to purchase your tickets today or at least reserve them. We need to give them a count by Monday. Hope you can join us for a night of fun, music and good conversation.

In the bulletin today there is an insert from the Bishop's Conference about the Health Bill that is being negotiated in Washington. We can help make sure that health care reform will protect the lives, dignity, conscience and health of all. Health care reform should be about saving lives, not destroying them.

Our monthly contributions for December are in the bulletin this week. Thank you for all you gave to help us be able to keep paying the bills. I want you to know that your generosity is greatly appreciated and helps to keep the number of grey hairs down!!!

We have distributed over 1500 books of raffle tickets which means we should have around $30,000 turned in. We have received much less than that. Please try to turn in the money for the book of tickets you have taken. If we had put on a second carnival, I know that each family here would have spent at least $80 over the week-end. Please support us by turning in $20 for the raffle book.

Be part of the party to congratulate our Awardees on January 30^th at DeLancey center. Tickets are on sale after all Masses this week-end for $49.00. Get them quick before we sell out!!

Our Youth have tickets for their Casino run on Jan. 16^th to Viejas casino in San Diego. They plan to make the ride down and back lots of fun, so even if you don't win a lot at the casino, you can still be a winner on the bus. See the kids at the table with the Bethlehem wood products for a ticket.

There seems to have been a misunderstanding about Fr. Bill's Bible Study class. The class in English will start on Jan. 20^th at 7pm in the Guadalupe room.

Today we have a second collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious in the United States. This fund is taken up annually to help religious congregations who have many elderly sisters, brothers and priests and need monetary assistance to take care of them. Thank you for your support.

Next Sunday St. Vincent De Paul is having a Pancake breakfast and pictures with Santa in the Hall. They need donations for this breakfast if anyone can help out. Please see Gloria Walker after the masses. Also do not forget to pick up an Angel for the giving tree and if you can still adopt a family, please stop by their table in the Hall.

SHARE and St. Vincent de Paul are also having a sale today in the Hall. Please go over and do some last minute Christmas shopping or just buy something to help them out. They have Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa gifts. List of needs for the dinner are also available. If you can volunteer the week before Christmas or on Christmas, please sign up at the table.

There is a list of the Christmas Dinner Needs available after Masses today. Please bring non-perishable food items on Dec. 13 and 20^th. Please do not bring used items until Dec. 19-23^rd.

Next Sunday there will be a sale of items that were left from the Holiday boutique. There will also be new and slightly used clothing on sale in the Hall. All of the proceeds go to help us feed our guests on Christmas and for the Adopt A Family.

Our youth who are hoping to go to WYD in 2011 have items from Bethlehem on sale after Mass today. They will be selling these for the next couple of weeks. Your support goes to them as well as the artists in Bethlehem..

There is a delicious breakfast in the Hall being provided by our Quincinera candidates. Our Spirituality Committee also invite you to join them after the 8:30 and 10:00am Masses for a sharing on traditions and symbols of Advent.

We have a second collection today for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This money goes to organizations that help build leadership among peoples. LA VOICE, the group our parish belongs to, is one of these organizations.

Our Thanksgiving Mass will be at 10am this Thursday. We invite each family to bring the bread and wine they will share at their meal to the mass for a blessing.

S.H.A.R.E. ministry invites all to the Holiday Boutique today in the Hall. There are items for all pockets, starting at $1.00. Light lunch will be served until 3pm.

We are excited to announce our Car Raffle which kicks off this week-end. We have a beautiful new Yaris parked outside the Church for all to look at. This will be the model we will be raffling off at the Pastor's Award dinner at the end of Jan. The tickets are $2 each and we have books of 12 tickets for $20. We are asking each family to sell at least one book to help us raise the needed funds. At this time I would like to ask the Ushers to hand out books of tickets to those who raise their hands. Thank you for your support.

We will be having a Senior Court this year- this is open to anyone 60yrs or older!!! We would ask each of you to give the credit for your book to the candidate you would like to see win. If you would like to be a candidate, please go to the table by the car and sign up today.

Do you know the date of your Baptism? Well, on that day, you became a missionary, called by our Lord to share your faith with those around you – and to be part of the Church's mission to the world. Today, on World Mission Sunday, we have the opportunity to be part of the Church's mission in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands through our prayers and support offered to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, we will now take up a second collection for this purpose.

SHARE ministry will be accepting donations of clothing, empty ink cartridges, food etc. on Oct. 24 from 9:30am till 12noon. Metro bus vouchers will be available next Sunday at the table behind the Church. You may also bring donations for the St. Agatha Table for the Boutique.

Sign ups for the Blood Drive are going on at the table behind the Church today after all Masses.

Today we celebrate Vocation Sunday. You are invited to visit the Hall for coffee and donuts and view a video from the Archdiocese on Priestly vocations. There is also a display with information about the Sisters of St. Louis and the Trinitarian Fathers.

There is information about Free Rainwater Harvesting in the bulletin and on the tables at the doors of the church. This is a great way to be conscious and helpful in the protection of our planet and our own immediate area.

Next Sunday we will begin taking sign ups for the Blood Drive on Nov. 1^st. This will be our second one this year and hope that those who gave last time will sign up to give again.

3. We will be having registration for Religious Education today from 8 AM to 3 PM in Room 4 of the school. Register immediately or plan to spend a VERY long time in Purgatory!!!!!!

4. We are in need of "fill-in" money counters. We have just enough counters to cover our Masses, but if someone gets sick or goes on vacation, we are stuck, so would anyone be interested in filling in now and then? The job has awkward hours: it's on Sundays from @ 7:30 AM to 1 PM. This makes Mass attendance difficult and breakfast impossible, but it only would happen now and then. If interested, let Sr. Karen, Marcello, our business manager, Deacon Ricardo or Fr. Bill know.

1) We have a 2nd collection today for the advancement of Catholic evangelization through television, radio and print. Let's face it, we feel the heavy influence of a secular culture that at best merely pays lip-service to the values of spiritual and mental health. We need to find better ways of communicating the truth of our way of life. You can help through this simple collection.

2) The parish picnic is today from 10 AM to 5 PM in Veteran's Park in Culver City, at Culver and Overland. We are hoping to get most of us there, at least for a little while. Come to the park, brink a book, and enjoy the slower pace of friendship as you take the time to build spiritual health.

3) Since this weekend is the picnic, we are not offering registration for religious education this weekend. BUT, next weekend, and the weekend after that--July 26 and August 2, we will offer that registration for both First Communion and Confirmation--either in the school or in the hall--depending on what space is available. Registration for First Communion is $60, and registration for Confirmation is $110. Please bring baptismal and other necessary sacramental certificates to each registration. 1. Today we will have a 2nd Collection for the needs of the St. Vincent de Paul outreach to the poor. It's unscheduled, and we understand if you're unprepared, but the needs are piling up and the funds are low, and this is a chance to help. Don't feel guilty if you can't, but if you can, we'll love you for it, and so will the poor!

2. NEXT SUNDAY—July 19—is our parish picnic at Veteran's Park, a very short distance away in Culver City, at Overland and Culver. It's from 11 AM to 5 PM. We still have sign ups available for our Community Table, and most of all, we want to see you there!

3. Registration for religious education is taking place in the hall today, from 8 AM to 3 PM. AND, be looking for offerings for adults, this year. We'll be doing more "days of recollection," and "theological update lectures," and "spiritual input workshops" throughout the year—all geared to adults.

Metro us discount vouchers will be available for the June us pass at a table in the Placita after all Masses today.

We are in the final run for the Festival. Our candidates will be around after all the Masses today, so please stop by and buy a ticket from them if you can.

We are also looking for donations of: napkins, rolls and beer, in particular Taquate and Bud Light.

We are still looking for donations for the International Booths for Friday and Sat. please stop by the table if you can bring these things. If you have already signed up for donations, you can start bringing them this week to the Parish Offices.

Last chance to get those pre-ride tickets – you really save a great deal if you get them now.

We will be setting up the booths and stage on Tuesday from 6-8:30pm and could really use the help of lots of you men – young and not so young. Please come if you can.

The Parish Office will be closed on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day

Today we have our second collection for the Cardinal McIntyre Fund. Thank you for whatever you can give.

We have sign ups today after all the masses for volunteers for the Festival. Please stop by the table at the back of Church to see what you can help with.

We have parents from Transfiguration School here today to hand out flyers about their school and answer questions you might have. Please stop by their table at the back of Church after Mass.

Marcia Lewis works at Santa Monica College and has job opportunities that some of our parishioners might life to take advantage of. There will be a paper at the back of church you can pick up with her email address. If you email her, she can send you job opportunities.

We would like to have a special day for our seniors in High School. If you know of anyone who will be graduating this year, please give us their name so we can acknowledge them this June. You can stop by the famous table at the back of Church and do that also!!

I'd like to introduce Gloria Walker who would like to tell you about a great fundraiser we are having for the Vincent de Paul Society.

Our Festival is fast approaching. You will find information on being a booth sponsor in the bulletin. You can tear the form out, fill it out and hand it in at the Festival table or mail it in. We will be having a drawing again this year for Disneyland tickets for those who sponsor a booth.

Next week we will have out sheets for volunteers to sign up to help on the three days of the Festival. I hope many of you can come and help and then have time to enjoy the Festival as well.

Please keep reading the bulletin as we will add new things each week.

Please consider donating ride tickets for our S.H.A.R.E. Saturday children guests for our up coming Festival. The tickets are to be placed in an envelope mark to the attention of the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry and placed in the collection basket or brought to the PC Office. Thank you.

Please do not donate clothing unless we ask specifically for it. We do not have storage space for this. But we do have storage for canned goods.

As you can see, our hall has a new roof now. It will be finished by Monday. This has depleted our building fund account so we will need to refurbish this. We will speak more about this in the near future.
