OCT. 30TH-31ST

As you know, the S.H.A.R.E. ministry is having their Holiday Boutique on Nov. 21st. They are in the hall today after the morning Masses and invite you to share your blessings by placing them in writing and hanging them on the board in the Hall. Toiletry items and canned goods will be collected every Sunday beginning Nov. 7th for the Christmas Day Dinner give away.

The St. Vincent de Paul society is hosting, with SHARE, a wonderful breakfast in the Hall. The proceeds will go towards supplementing our Adopt A Family program and Angel Tree program.  Please give them your support by buying a donut or breakfast this morning.

Black Catholic History Month Mass is next Sunday at the 10am Mass, which will begin around 9:45am. There will be two nights, Nov. 8th and 15th, of sharing about the contributions of Africans and people of African descent led by Tom Honore. Hope you can join us at 7pm.

L.A. Voice Elevator Pitch

Banks need to do their part to help Angelenos recover from this crisis.

Big banks got us into this mess and need to help us get back on our feet. We bailed them out; it's time they help us.

Big banks can do this by making loans to small businesses that create jobs and by working with families to help them stay in their homes, get out of debt, and rebuild.

Many big banks refuse to do this, and it's time that the City of Los Angeles stop giving these banks our $30 billion in business.  That's what the "Responsible Banking Ordinance" will do. And it will reward those banks that are helping Angelenos recover, including community banks.

Similar ordinances in Cleveland and Philadelphia have brought billions of dollars in reinvestment to those cities and helped thousands of families survive and thrive.

Banks were made for people, not people for the banks.  Join us as we make banks work for us here in Los Angeles

We are taking sign ups today for people to join us on Nov. 8th at Blessed Sacrament Church in support of the Banking initiative Councilman Alarcon is putting forth in City Council. It will begin at 6:45pm and we will be car pooling. Please give us your support by attending to let Banks know that we are holding them accountable for their actions.

This is your last chance to sign up for the Blood Drive next Sunday. Please stop by the table and share this gift with your community.

There will be a community meeting on Nov. 2nd after 4:30pm at the Constituent Service Center at 48755 S. Vermont Ave. about the Cork bar on Adams. The owner wants to make it a 24hr. club with dancing. We need the neighborhood to tell him what we think. If you can make it and voice your opinion, it would be greatly appreciated.

OCT. 16TH – 17TH

In July, 1990, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus established November as Black Catholic History Month. Join us on Nov. 7th at the 10am Mass in celebration of our history as Black Catholics.

On Monday evening Nov. 8 and 15th at 7pm in the hall, there will be talks and question and answer periods on the contributions that have been made to the Catholic Religion by Africans and people of African descent. I hope many of you will join us on these evenings.

Our next Blood Drive will be on Nov. 7th. Sign ups are being taken today after all the Masses.

S.H.A.R.E. Holiday boutique is on Sunday, Nov. 21st. Inquiries can be sent to the Parish Office, attention Margie. Applications for the Scratch Cupcake Bake Off Competition are at the entrances of the Church. Come join in the fun and be a part of this community building effort. Please invite friends and neighbors and those who are not part of our community.

Please stop by the Raffle Booth and pick up tickets or drop off money and stubs if you have them. We are offering a $200 prize to the person who sells the most books of tickets, so get in the running now and see what you can do. OCT. 9TH- 10TH

October is the month of the Rosary. There will be a rally on Oct. 16th at 12noon at St. Bernadette Church to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of Our Lady's apparition at Fatima. There will be more than 5000 rally's going on this month across the nation to unite the faithful in praying the rosary. If you can not attend this rally, perhaps your family could come together one night and pray the rosary together for peace or whatever intention you have.

OCT. 2ND – 3RD

Fr. Bill will be out of town from Monday till Thursday. We will  have communion services except for Wed. morning when Fr. Frank will say the morning Mass at 8am.

As you can see from the construction, the Placita is underway. We need to get the bricks to the company so we can get them back in time for placement in the floor of the Placita. Therefore, we need all orders for bricks by this coming Friday, Oct. 8th. You can turn them into the Office during the week.

We are cancelling the dance on Oct. 16th since we have been asking so much of the parishioner's with the Placita and Car raffle. I would like to explain why we are having the Car Raffle now. Since we do not have a Fall Festival, the Car Raffle is our fundraiser for this season.  You have two months to sell the tickets as the raffle is not until Nov. 28th. We need to sell the books in order to make the money for the car or prize. If each family took one book of tickets and tried to sell it, we would reach our goal. Thank you to those who are taken a couple of books. Let's try to  make this a success with everyone helping.
