NOV. 3RD-4TH

2.     Black Catholic History Month Mass—Sunday November 11 at 10:00 a.m.
 
3.     Adopt-A-Families are available this Sunday. Please stop by the table and choose a family or pick up an angel.
 
4.     Christmas Day Dinner Collection Item next week: New white socks size 9-15 for men. Please bring these to the S.H.A.R.E. Table in the school yard.
 
5.     Author Sophia Jane Berkley will do a book signing and read from her book "Text Messages from the Heart of a Ghetto Mom" in the Hall during the Holiday Boutique on November 18.  Please help us by taking Holiday Boutique Flyers to distribute.
 
6.     If you know of a business or market what you feel could donate to the Christmas Day Dinner please drop the names off to the PC Office in and envelope marked S.H.A.R.E. 
 
7.     S.H.A.R.E. needs 180 sandwiches for the meal, next Saturday November 10.  Please see Margie today or call the PC office if you are able to donate a portion of these

SEPT. 15TH – 16TH

Today is Catechetical Sunday. Thank you to all who give of your time and talent to share our faith with our youth. You will be rewarded!!!
 
Our Faith Formation classes are beginning for young people up to older people this month. Please check the bulletin for details on all the programs.
 
We have purchased new microphones, but there is still work to be done to really get the sound up to where we want and need it to be. We will be taking up second collections every once in awhile, so if you can help us out, please donate.
 
As you know the elections are coming up soon. I would just like to encourage all of you to vote this year, not just for the upcoming candidates, but there are many propositions that are important to all of us. Please read, talk and vote in November.

SEPT. 1ST-2ND

The Parish Office is closed tomorrow, Monday for the holiday.
 
I would like to have a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 16th around 11:30am for all those who are interested in traveling to the Holy Land in 2013. I will have itineraries and hope to answer any questions you might have. Please let friends and family know about the meeting if they are interested in joining us.
 
St. Agatha's Faith Formation announces "Adult Faith Sharing" a new adult ministry. The goal of this ministry is to create a space in which all adults can share their faith, experience the love of Christ, discuss the gospel and build community. We will be meeting on the third Sunday of each month starting on Sunday, September 16th from 8:30 am – 10:00 am in the Guadalupe Room. For more information please contact the Faith Formation Office.
 
Applications for our Early Childhood Program are available today Sunday at the Information Booth by the entrance.
 
 
Ashley Merryman has an announcement about tutoring. (Important: George Shamu will make the announcement at the 10:00 a.m. mass)

1. Macy's Shop For A Cause passes are still available at the table in the parking lot.
 
Today, bring a pew mate, visitor, friend, family member, stranger to the Placita for coffee and fellowship.  This act of kindness will lift up someone's spirits and place a memory in their heart to know someone cares.   Some of our church family only get to talk and be around people when they come to Mass on Sunday.   This is the high light of their day and week.  Let's reach out in the spirit of St. Agatha Parish Family and touch a life in the name of Jesus. Donuts and coffee will be served.
 
Metro Discount Bus Vouchers will be distributed at the table in the parking lot after all masses today.  Please bring a picture ID to show.
 
2. Home Boys Bakery will be here next Sunday with all their delicious variety of breads. So come prepared to shop!!
 
3.    Next Sunday is our Parish Picnic. Gloria is outside of Church today with lists of what we could use and if you would like to volunteer to help set up, clean up or cook, please see her.
 
4.    I'd like to bring you up to date on our status for together in Mission. Our goal amount is $34,769.19. We have pledged $36,217. So far we have received $19,750 of that pledge. If you have not completed you pledge, please try to do so as soon as possible so we can reach our Goal.
 
5.    There will be a dance on Sat. July 28th for young adults. It will run from 6pm till 11pm. Come and join us for a Summer Luau.

JULY 14TH-15TH

1.  There is a second collection today for the National Needs Assessment. Envelopes are in the pews.
 
2. Macy's "Shop For A Cause" for a 25% discount pass for all day shopping on August 25 is available from the S.H.A.R.E. Table in the Placita Area today for a $5.00 donation.  Macy's will donate the entire proceeds from this fundraiser to the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry.
 
Diamond Church Family members (those members that God has blessed with 75 plus years) please stop by the Placita today to have your picture taken and to pick up information on the Elder Sunday Celebration on Sunday September 23. 
 
Next Sunday the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry encourages you to plan to spend a few minutes following mass to invite someone to the hall for fellowship and coffee.  Let "The Kingdom Is Alive" spirit felt during the mass at the sign of peace spill over into the parking lot and into the hall.  Coffee, tea, milk, juice and doughnuts are available for $1.00  each.  
 
3.    Over the next three months we will be helping in a Voting Encouragement Campaign. We will be contacting those who are infrequent voters, encouraging them to become more active in the upcoming elections. If you would like to help us, please stop by the table outside of Church for more information. We are asking only for one hour per month for Aug, Sept. and Oct.
 
4. Please join us for a delicious Breakfast in the hall after Mass, being sponsored by Religious Education.

JULY 7th-8th

1. Macy's  Shop For A Cause 25% all day discount  on  August 25  passes are available today for a donation of $5.00 to the S,H,A,R,E Ministry,  Please  stop by the table in the parking lot on Sunday or go to the PC during the week 10-12  1-7.   Macy's donates the entire proceeds received from the passes to the S.H.A.R.E MINISTRY.
 
Diamond family church members please stop pass the Placita following each mass next Sunday to have your picture taken for our Elder Sunday Celebration.  Diamonds are those church family members whom God has blessed with 75 plus BIRTHDATE CELEBRATIONS.

2. Save the date for our Parish Picnic – July 29th. We will be asking for donations for the Community table soon.
 
3. If you are a young adult, over 21yrs of age, check out the bulletin for an upcoming dance on July 28th. Sounds like fun, don't miss out.
 
4. We are going to the Holy Land in September of 2013. Please check the bulletin for details and let Sr. Karen know if you are serious about going. We will take sign ups next week.
 
5. We have First Communion Registrations today Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

June 30th-JULY 1ST

1. Children's Liturgy of the Word is on vacation for July and August and will return the first Sunday of September.
 
2. Registration is going on today for Religious Education for next year. This includes First Communion, Confirmation, RCIA and our new Early Childhood Program which will start in September. Please stop by the table in the Hall or Placita.
 
3. Mark your calendars for our Parish Picnic, July 29th at Veteran's Park from 10am till 4pm. We will be announcing more details as the planning gets going.
 
4. The PC Office closes each day 12-1 for lunch please remember this in your scheduled visits.
 
If you forgot to bring peanut butter, jelly, dry cereal , beans, rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce please bring to the PC  kitchen area  next Saturday  9:30-12   1:30-3:30pm for distribution next week,
 
 S.H.A.R.E. Ministry will have Macy's "Shop For A Cause" shopping Passes available for a donation of $5.00 beginning next Sunday.  Passes may be picked up during the week from the PC Office.
The pass allows you to receive 25% off most regular, sales and clearance items all day on August 25, 2012.  All proceeds from this fundraiser are being donated by Macy's to the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry.  Please tell a friend.
 
  The Senior Church Diamond members, 75 years and older, are encouraged to come to the Placita after each mass on Sunday July 15 to have their picture taken for the Up Coming Senior Tea in September.
 
5. Our Parish Office will be closed Wednesday July 4th. Have a blessed and fun Independence Day.

We say a farewell today to Fr. Dominic. He will be going to San Diego to work among the young adults in University. We thank him for the gifts he has brought and shared with us here at St. Agatha's and wish him well as he transitions. Please join us in the Placita to say farewell.
 
Join us in the Placita to also congratulate our graduates from elementary and pre-school. We have some goodies to share with them.
 
If you signed up for the Blood Drive, please make sure to keep your appointment in the Hall.

JUNE 16TH-17TH

We would like to wish a happy father's day to all our Dad's.
 
Our Blood Drive is next Sunday, please stop by the table and sign up to give. Your donation can mean life to five to six people.
 
Religious Education will start having registration in July. Please take a bulletin home and remind your friends when registration is going on. Remember that the faith life of your child is your responsibility first as parents, but we are here to assist you. Our programs offer more than just sacramental preparation, learning continues through the elementary and High School years.
 
Please take a bulletin for information on two new faith formation programs that will begin in Sept. There is one for Adults and an early childhood class. Both of these will be held on Sunday.
 
Free Metro Discount Bus Vouchers for July-December 2012 will be distributed on Sunday June 16 before and after each mass.  Please bring your current picture ID.  If you are getting a voucher for a student you must show their school ID.  Please do not ask for a voucher book for a family member or neighbor they must come in person with their ID.  The annual applications will need to be completed again.
 
June 23 is an open date for the Saturday S.H.A.R.E. Program 180 sandwiches and 90 desserts are needed.  See Margie at the Bus Voucher table if you are able to donate any portion of the meal.
 
Please bring donations of peanut butter, jelly and cereal to the PC   before or on Saturday June 23 for our Saturday Children to have to eat during the summer break from school.
 
Calling all Graduates; Next Sunday, June 24, after the 10:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. mass, we will celebrate all St. Agatha's members who are graduating from kindergarten, 5th grade, 8th grade and High School.  WE NEED THE NAME OF ALL GRADUATES. PLEASE STOP BY THE TABLE behind the church after mass and fill out an application we need the name of the child, the school they graduated, and the school they are going to.

We would like to invite any High School, College or Trade school graduate to give us a picture of you for our Graduation board. Please see Gloria at the Get On The Bus table at the Ministry Fair.
 
Also, if your are graduating from kindergarten, 5th grade or 8th grades please stop at Gloria or Margie's tables and sign in. We will have a small reception in the Placita on June 24th after the masses.
 
Please stop by the Get on the Bus table and pick up a bus with a child's name on it or help in other ways.
 
We have beautiful wood products from Bethlehem for purchase today. The display is on the field.
 
Coffee and donuts are also on the field, so please make an effort to go onto the field and see all the ministries we offer here at St. Agatha. Even if you can't sign up today, take some information and enjoy the fellowship.

APRIL 21ST-22ND

Please stop by the Festival table at the back of the Church to see how you might be able to help us this year with the Festival. Don't forget those raffle tickets!! Our Candidates will be out and about selling theirs, so if you can buy some from them, it will help them in their run for queen. You can help by: Sponsoring a booth, bring some items for the food booth, sign up to help in one of the booths and sell those raffle tickets!! Thank you.
 
 
Thank you family for your overwhelming support of our McDonald's fundraiser.  God sent our family to support us and to have fellowship.  Let's keep this spirit of fellowship alive and thriving.   Don't rush home today but stop by the hall and nourish the spirit of St. Agatha through fellowship and a little coffee and doughnuts for your body.
 
Please keep our Confirmation students in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament on May 9th from Bishop Alex Salazar.

MARCH 30TH-APRIL 1ST

We have wood articles from the Holy Land for sale after all the Masses today at the back of the Church.
 
If there are any young men or women who are interested in becoming Altar servers at the English Masses, please give your name to Sr. Karen or call the Parish Office.
 
Don't forget to mark your calendar for our Festival on June 1-3rd. Much more will be following.
 
This Monday evening we will have a Pot luck supper in the hall beginning at 7pm. Come spend some time with other parishioners and get a chance to meet and chat with them. The Mass of Chrism will be going on at the Cathedral where the Holy Oils are blest by the Archbishop for all parishes. It's a time for us to gather, thank God for our blessings and look forward to Holy Week and Easter. Hope to see you there.
 
If you can donate an Easter Lilly for Easter, please bring it to the Parish Office no later than Holy Saturday. The environment committee will be setting the environment on Holy Saturday. You can put a name of someone you would like remembered with your lily and it will be placed with the plant.

MARCH 24TH-25TH

The doughnut hospitality today is being served by the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry please come and invite your pew mate and family to come get and give a hug,  fellowship over a cup of hot coffee and scratch homemade coffee cake.  Hugs are FREE everything else is $1.00.    (If the weather is nice we are on the Placita if it rainy and cold we are in the hall)
 
At the same time as you fellowship you can pick up a Metro Bus Discount Voucher.
Drop your pennies off for the Penny Collection. Drop off your candy and requested donations for our Saturday Children for Easter.
Read the messages from our Christmas Dinner guests on the board read the past messages of praises written by the church family members and add your new praise reports of how you have been blessed.
 
Saturday March 31, 2-3:30PM please bring your used clothing donations to the Grotto Parking Lot.  Please do not bring before, after or leave in any other area.  We are few and have difficulty moving the items from the PC to the Grotto.
 
Mark your calendar for our Annual Festival, which will be June 1-3rd this year. Raffle tickets will be coming soon as well as our Princess candidates. If there is any young girl who would like to run for Queen, please let us know.
 
There have been some instances of graffiti in the school bathrooms over the past few weeks. Please monitor your youth if they use the restrooms as this can be costly to fix and is very disrespectful. Thank you.
 
If there are any young men or women who would like to learn how to altar serve at the English Masses, please see Sr. Karen and give her your names and phone numbers. We will be starting a new class soon.

Metro Discount Bus Vouchers will be distributed next Sunday in the Placita Area.  Senior and disable vouchers are available again.  Please bring your ID.
 
Please bring a stamped Easter Card next Sunday and drop in the basket in the Placita area. These cards will be addressed and mailed to our homebound family members for Easter.
 
Please bring the pennies that you have been saving for our Penny Collection to the doughnut hospitality area on the Placita next Sunday.  The pennies will be used to purchase Easter treats for our guests.
 
If anyone would like to donate hair bows or barrettes our 15 girls guests ages 6 months -12 years and socks please bring to the doughnut Hospitality area on the Placita next Sunday.  .
 
The next used clothing collection date is Saturday March 31.  Please see the bulletin for further information.
 
Concerned about the education of your children? Want to advocate for public school improvement?  LA Voice and the Social Justice Committee at Saint Agatha will hold a meeting with parents to discuss how to improve the schools in the community. The meeting will be March 24 at 1:00 pm in the Guadalupe Room.
 
This Monday Night is our Penance Service at 7:00 p.m.  at the church and there will be no soup supper.
 
The Fish Fry continues this Friday evening at 6pm at the kitchen in the Hall.

ANNOUNCEMENTS MARCH 3RD -4TH ANNOUNCEMENTS MARCH 3RD -4TH

We have been asked to help with a bus going to the prisons' for Mother's Day. What we need are around 5 people who would be willing to be here at St. Agatha's on Sat. May 12th at 3am to meet the people and give them breakfast and help load the bus. We do not need to go on the bus. If this is something you might be able to do, please see Gloria after Mass today outside of church.
 
As you know there are many things around here that break or need fixing. We had this happen this week to the washer and dryer in the Rectory. If there are any parishioner's who might be able to help us in paying for these items, please see Sr. Karen.
 
Hope to see you Monday night at the Soup Supper when Fabian Debora, a local artist, will be sharing with us. Don't forget the fish fry dinners on Friday either. You can eat here or take it home.
 
We had a wonderful victory on Wednesday at the City Council when they voted unanimously in favor of the Bank Ordinance. Thank you to all who have hung in there over the last two years to attend meetings and meetings and meetings to get this to vote. We did it!! This is social justice in action!!
 
There are no coffee and donuts today because of the Blood Drive. Please remember to keep your appointment.
 
Next Sunday March 11, everyone is invited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the Parish Hall after the 10:00 a.m. mass. There will be Irish music and dancers. Contact Donal O'Sullivan for more information.
 
We regret to announce that Ethel Singleton, Sylvia Davis' mom, has departed to the Lord. Her funeral will be on Thursday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery.
 
10:00 a.m. Mass only: Good news! Starting next Sunday, March 11th, the Children Liturgy of the Word will be back. We have a new coordinator: Essence Stamps (Essence, if you are present please stand up). Please pass the word around. We are anxious to see your children come and learn with us the word of the Lord.

FEB. 25TH-26TH

Discount Metro Bus Vouchers will be distributed today at the S.H.A.R.E table in the parking lot.  Please bring your ID when you come for the voucher.
   Please bring your food donations for the First Sunday Food collection and place in the barrels next Sunday.  Please see the bulletin for the list of needed food supplies.
   We appreciate your clothing donations but we have limited space so PLEASE DO NOT DROP THEM OFF AT THE PC OR ON THE FRONT STEPS. You can always put them into the Vincent de Paul box next to the Church. The next used items drive will be Saturday March 31.
  Please bring your pennies to the S.H.A.R.E. TABLE TODAY.
 
We would like to thank all who have pledged this year for Together In Mission. If you did not have a chance to do so, the ushers will now hand out envelopes that you can fill in and give to them after Mass. Please do not put money into the envelopes but just write in your pledge.
 
FISH FRY
We will be having fish fry dinners and fish taco sales on Fridays during lent to sponsor various projects in the Church. Starting on March 2nd to March 30, (Gloria is in the back of the church registering volunteers and donations.  Please if you are bringing perishable items OR volunteering please register the date you will bring it.  That way we will not have too many one Friday and none on the other.  Please remember that this is a fundraiser and we do not buy the items wholesale SMILE)   
 
 
I would like to invite one of our catechist's to come forward to introduce our offering boxes for Lent.
 
I would like to introduce Arroyo from the American Red Cross who would like to say a few words about our Blood Drive next week-end.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: JANUARY 28th – 29th

Tickets for the Pastor Awards Dinner on Feb. 4th are on sale today after all the Masses. They are $35 each or $70 for a couple.
 
Please see the bulletin for "An Evening for New Orleans Lovers!" on Saturday Februarty 11th, 2012 at the Parish Hall. At 6pm, please call the office to reserve your space.
 
Members of our new Social Justice Committee will be participating in an Archdiocesan workshop next Saturday in Whittier.  The workshop is aimed at helping parishes and parishioners know how to build a social justice ministry.   If you would like to participate in this workshop also, contact Tom HonorĂ© through our parish office.
 
The mass choir for the archdiocese under the direction of Eddie Hilley will be singing for the black history mass Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 5 o'clock At the Cathedral our Lady of Angels.
 
"We will soon have our kick off weekend for Together in Mission. Some of you may have already received your packet in the mail from the Archdiocese. Will you complete your pledge information and place the envelope in the collection basket at St. Agatha. We will forward the information to the Archdiocese.  This will allow us to track the pledges for our Parish. Thank you for your cooperation. Sr. Karen"
 
The following is a message from Sister Karen: "Thank you so much for all your prayers, thoughts and wishes; they helped me very much in keeping my sanity during this time of recovery. I am doing very well, better than I expected. I am now using the cane to walk with and can drive for short distances. I expect to be back at St. Agatha's on Wed. Feb 1st for work on a shorten schedule. I know that I have been away a lot this year and have one more trip in March, which is part of my other obligations to my community. I hope that you know that St. Agatha's is always in my thoughts and prayers when I am away and I am kept abreast of what is going on through the internet. Thank you again for the prayers and good wishes." – Sr. Karen Collier

Tickets for the Pastor Awards Dinner on Feb. 4th are on sale today after all the Masses. They are $35 each or $70 for a couple. We have lovely posters in our entrances so you can see who the awardees are. Hurry and get your ticket today, they are selling like hot potato!
 
Please see the bulletin for "An Evening for New Orleans Lovers!" on Saturday Februarty 11th, 2012 at the Parish Hall. At 6pm we will have Louisiana Comfort Food on sale and at 7pm the Showing of the Documentary "The Big Uneasy." We are asking for a $1 donation for the entrance and to call the parish office to reserve your spot.
 
The Christian Financial Classes based on Dave Ramsey will start on Monday January 23 at the Guadalupe Room. Please see our bulletin for more information.
 
LOVE TACOS? Well then come get your fill from 8am to 2pm at the Parish Hall. And as you get your fill of the variety of the delicious tacos, you will also be supporting our catechists in raising funds to attend the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim this March. You will be full and happy.
